The Division of Preparedness and Training provides or coordinates training, continuing education, and exercises for the state's public safety practitioners.

The Division's associates currently provide training in:

    • emergency management,
    • emergency medical, fire services,
    • and hazardous materials (Hazmat).

In addition to its training efforts, the Division maintains certification records for Indiana Firefighters and EMS personnel.

In our quest to meet today's and future needs and demands of our constituents we are always driving to improve our service offerings and add additional delivery channels to distribute training content and opportunities.

We see online training as a important and integral add-on to our current services to reach even a broader audience faster and more efficient. IDHS is committed to deliver quality training opportunities online and electronically.

This eLearning initiative is supported by the Director of IDHS Division Preparedness and Training Bradley Thatcher. Assigned to the initiative are Curriculum Specialist and eLearning Coordinator Jay Penndorf and certified Distanced Education professional Alexander Muehlenkord contracted from Indiana University .
